Respect for nature and its gifts is not just a concept. It is a philosophy of life that brought us together in a magical collaboration with Janka from Hiling zdravá krása. Janka captivated me with her personality. This young woman and mother built her own brand of natural cosmetics in Banská Štiavnica. Her creative work is in harmony with nature, herbs and the genius loci of the beautiful place where she comes from. In our interview today, I would like to introduce you to the author of Hiling zdravá krása.
Hi Janka, thank you for taking the time to talk to us. I really appreciate it!
1. Why did you start producing natural cosmetics?
My relationship with herbs and nature brought me to the production of natural cosmetics. Basically, I changed my entire lifestyle from the ground up. 10 years ago I decided to finish university, I changed my surroundings, diet, city, people, life priorities. And so gradually the story of Híling began to take shape. (At first the brand was called cosmetics from the owl, because that's what people have been calling me for years) I moved back to Banská Štiavnica, where the genius location of the place attracts people to create unusual projects. In general, I fell in love with such an open life, full of lakes, sun, forests and meadows. And I try to transfer this energy to cosmetics.
2. How did the poetic name HILING ZDRAVA KRASA come about?
The name Híling healthy beauty came about one evening in a tea room. My husband was working there at the time, so I spent a lot of time there and created a lot there. Once I sat down with a friend and she helped me create the first word híling, we practiced English healing a little. I automatically added healthy beauty to it. As if I already knew then that I wanted to focus in this direction.
3. Tell us what your very first product was and whether you still produce it?
My very first product was the herbal primrose salve. At the time, it didn't even occur to me to make creams other than the herbal ones. I was determined to only use local oils, local beeswax, honey and herbs. I also illustrated the covers myself. Over time, I fell in love with more inventing emulsions. In any case, I would like to return to such herbal creams, but now I do not have the legislative capacity for it. However, I still make them at home for myself.
4. What is your “heart” product and why?
My favorite product is mascara, because its simplicity makes it complicated :D. It was difficult to invent it and even more difficult to learn to work with it. It really wasn't easy to find complete trust in it as a product. And that's why it's closest to my heart, because it wasn't just from day to day, but we were looking for a relationship with each other. Both in production and in use. Now it takes me a few seconds to apply and I still like to play with it as an eyeliner or black shadow. She is alive enough for me, she lives her life.
5. How did you get into natural products? SoZoLe Rose, and what did they call you?
Sozole rose jumped out at me on Instagram, I don't even know when and how, but I was drawn to it. I think that mainly by the openness in the shared posts. And our joint livestream with Miška (editor's note - exclusive distributor SoZoLe Rose SK) I went to Sozola rose even more. Some time ago, I sent to the universe to bring high-quality flower waters to me, and he sent me you online :)

6. Do you have your own group of fans who test your hot or upcoming products?
Yes, I always write in the stories that there are samples to try and then send them out. But mainly he tests my immediate surroundings.
7. You also do workshops. Who are they intended for and what will participants get out of them?
Yes workshops I love my job the most, as I am an open person and like to communicate with people around me. I focus the workshops according to my mood, but I also like the private ones, where there are only a few of us and I know how to devote myself properly to each woman. We make lipsticks, balms, creams, perfumes, etc. I also like to mix them with herbal creations. But I mostly worked with children (2nd grade) and teachers. For a few years I was a lecturer in a herbal workshop as part of a project Living textbook. It was experiential education, through production and being in nature I was able to show them the world of chemistry, mathematics, physics, ethics, creation and mutual cooperation, communication.
8. Are you planning anything new for 2022?
I am preparing new products, but I cannot promise anything based on the high stage of pregnancy. However, it will be an expansion of the portfolio of decorative cosmetics.
