Rose water has been added to dishes since time immemorial because it enhances the taste of individual components. Recipes for various culinary specialties can be found in Middle Eastern, Arabic, French and Balkan cuisine. I will gradually introduce you to the most interesting ones. Today we will start with something completely simple, and that is weekend pancakes with Organic Rose Water from Damascus Rose. This highest quality Organic floral waters It comes from organic, controlled farming, does not contain preservatives, has undergone the strictest control and is suitable for preparing meals.
We will need:
3 whole eggs
400 g of good quality white unsweetened yogurt (1 large cup)
1,5 cups sifted white flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 tablespoons of good quality oil (sunflower or olive)
3-4 tablespoons Organic rose water or ¾ tasting glass (see photo)
Approach:
First, sift the flour through a sieve. The pancakes will be fluffier. Add 2 teaspoons of baking soda to it to promote more airiness. Add 3 eggs, yogurt, oil to the second mixing bowl and mix. Add rose water to the mixture and finally mix the already prepared sifted flour with baking soda. We will create a slightly thicker pancake batter. And put it in the pan.
Place a measured amount on a heated pan – 1 pancake = 1 tablespoon of the mixture. Fry in the classic way on both sides.
Finally, dust the pancakes with powdered sugar, which enhances the aroma of the roses. Be sure to try one without sugar and one with sugar. The difference is noticeable. You will see that they just dust themselves.
