Red orange (Citrus aurantium dulcis) does not look different from classic oranges (Citrus sinensis). It is only when we get past its rough shell that we discover “the beautiful.” It is like us humans. We grow a hard shell and protect what is fragile.
Why is a red orange "red"?
When a red one gets among the oranges, everyone pays attention and we can hear the astonished “Ooo, it’s him!” In the meantime, he rolls away and life goes on. Its uniqueness lies in its bloody pulp. This is a variety specific to southern Italy and Sicily. Thanks to its extreme weather, when the nights are cold and the sun shines brightly during the day, it acquires its typical color. Due to this changeable weather, the color in the pulp is caused by anthocyanins, which are present in flowers and fruits, but are unusual in citrus fruits.
Close acquaintance
Although I could rave about its taste and juicy pulp, my eye focuses on its peel. Citrus essential oil is most often obtained by pressing the peel from the pericarp. And each of us can see its precious essential oil with our own eyes. Even encounter it, only in very close contact. Yes, I'm talking about a very quick and unpleasant splash in the eye when peeling an orange. Congratulations, you have just met an orange and you can move on to the next goal. I believe that it does this on purpose and has a lot of fun doing it! Rude. And if you want to get to know it even deeper, carefully examine its peel. You will discover secretory cavities. These are lined with secretory cells that burst under strong pressure and produce essential oil. Complete "porn"!
Friend orange
If you choose blood orange essential oil, you will always have a friend with you to have fun with. For a person who needs to have everything under control, orange is the right one. It brings peace, reduces tension, helps to adapt and maintains optimism.
Where energy does not flow, there is no joy. And where there is no joy, there is no positive thinking. So let's remember that orange will circulate energy where it is needed. It is suitable for the digestive system in case of loss of appetite, nausea or bloating. In a diffuser, it disinfects the air, quickly cheers up and helps with insomnia. If citrus essential oil is not distilled, it is phototoxic. Do not expose your skin to direct sunlight after applying it. Also, do not use any essential oils on your skin undiluted (i.e. in a carrier oil).
