Bergamot

Bergamot is a hybrid of a bitter orange and a lemon. According to folklore, Christopher Columbus brought Bergamot from the Canary Islands and began to cultivate it in Bergamo in Lombardy, Italy, which is one of the hypotheses for the origin of its name. The distillation of the aromatic rind of its fruit produces a hydrolate (floral water) that refreshes oily skin and tightens enlarged pores, as well as an essential oil whose scent improves mood.
