My passion for the Bulgarian Damask rose from the Rosa Damascena Mill variety knows no bounds. Its rose oil and water are used worldwide in aromatherapy, perfumery, pharmaceutical and food industries. Bulgarian rose oil is recognized as the highest quality rose oil in the world. Did you know that the presence of rose oil in a perfume prolongs its fragrance for up to 2-3 days, and that otherwise we have to be content with just two hours?
We test and select for you
Therefore, our mission was clear – to select the best Bulgarian rose oil. We specifically looked for one that is characterized by a specific, strong and unique aroma, accompanied by a certificate of origin and a clear composition (corresponding to the exact range specified by the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture). ""Bulgarian Rose Oil" from the Rosa Damascena Mill variety has been registered with the EU Commission as a so-called protected geographical indication since 2012. It therefore serves as proof of quality and origin. There are many types of rose oil in the world, but none of them achieve these unique properties.
What is the proof of quality and origin?
The actual collection and distillation according to the document on the protected geographical indication “Bulgarian rose oil” is subject to several specifics. As you know from my previous articles, it is collected by hand, early in the morning after dawn. Due to changes in weather and altitude, the beginning may differ every year. An undeniable sign of the approaching rose collection is the blooming acacia. If the acacia blooms, work on the rose fields will begin within 10 days. The speed and precision of experienced collectors are important, who put only open flowers into 25 kg bags! They then travel as quickly as possible to the distillery, where bags arriving from a greater distance are preferentially poured into the distillation vessels. Time is extremely important. The flowers must be processed within a maximum of 15 hours of their collection (The remaining flowers from the previous day are no longer suitable for distillation.). The distillation ratio of rose and water is 1:4 or 1:5. The water used for it is strictly controlled by the sanitary station. As we said before, To obtain 1 kg of precious oil, approximately 3500 kg of Rosa Damascena Mill. pink flowers are needed.
The best of the best
This unique oil is a part of many world perfumes. Let's talk about numbers – 42% of men's and 96% of women's perfumes contain rose oil. You also know it as a part of well-known cosmetic products or organic cosmetic lines. Through thorns to victory
The road to it was thorny, but the result is intoxicating. I declare it this year's official victory! We tested many samples of not only rose oil but also rose water, compared individual chemical analyses, insisted on clear proof of origin. Sometimes it was really difficult. There are a large number of distilleries, there are many fakes. Well, we succeeded and we are very proud to be able to present this beauty to you. And we are also very curious about your reactions. Pre-sale has started! Expect it in stock in the Czech Republic soon.
