Helichrysum, or Italian immortelle, is an herb that has won the hearts of many people around the world. Its small yellow flowers hide not only beauty, but also powerful properties, as evidenced by its Latin name Helichrysum Italicum, which comes from the Greek Hélios (i.e. sun) and Chrysos (i.e. gold), referring to its golden color and regenerative abilities. Anet Jirchářová, an experienced aromatherapist and phytotherapist, will share with you the use of this herb, its flower water and essential oil, not only in aromatherapy. Discover the magic of the healing immortal helichrysum.
Immortal straw hat
Italian Smil, also known as helichrysum or helichrysum, is a strongly aromatic herb with small yellow flowers that retain their color even when dried. Once you recognize the scent of helichrysum, its sweet, herbal, earthy note is unmistakable.
Meeting with a straw man
Once I set off to the garden center with the goal of leaving with a seedling of immortelle. According to their database, it was the last one there. And it was supposed to be mine! It was quite a challenge. From the confused looks of the employees, it was clear that they didn't know what kind of flower it was and where to look for it. I frantically described to them what it looked like and how they would recognize it. Unfortunately for all of us, it was the time when it had already bloomed. So we went to look for it.

Lavender or lavender
At a moment when it seemed that we would find nothing and the gardeners would have to escort me out of the area, I stumbled upon the beds of young lavender seedlings. And a miracle happened! She was there! Smil has the same leaves as lavender, only they are a little silverier. I immediately jumped up to it, lightly stroked the twig and smelled the scent of curry. It's her! I shouted and triumphantly went to show her to everyone present. I felt like a goddess, although I was probably the only one who felt it. But I believe that the god Apollo was standing by me and guided my steps with the sun's rays. This herb is connected to the god of the Sun, who decorated his hair with its flowers to show everyone his immortality, which the smil supposedly grants.
Healing effects on body and soul
And while we're talking about its power, it's important to mention its healing properties for both the body and the soul. Its anti-inflammatory effects help with severely inflamed and poorly healing wounds, such as acne. It hydrates and regenerates dry skin with eczema. The plant is the number one for various bruises, dissolves clots and accelerates the healing of bruises. It also dissolves mental blocks and severe traumas, making it especially suitable for those who are trying to overcome memories of a difficult childhood.
The link between heaven and earth
The immortelle is our connection between heaven and earth. It anchors us in reality and helps us perceive the present. If you are always looking back at the past, trying to see through the wall into the future and not realizing how much you are missing out on in the present, then Italian immortelle is the one for you.
